Owens Valley from Mt. Whitney Trail
Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park
This picture was taken while descending the Mt. Whitney trail in July of 2013. The lush meadow is nurtured by the water which flows from Mirror lake. Mirror lake is the blue water that can be seen above the brownish lake and right of mid-ground below the white- tinged cliffs. During spring snow melt a water spout falls down these cliffs and feeds the lake. Many years ago this area was a glacier. The verdant owens valley can be seen below with the foothills of the Inyo Mountains rising up beyond. Photo © copyright by Frank LeBlanc.
