Cypress Front
Atchafalaya Basin
Out front at the edge where swamp opens up into a large lake (Henderson Lake) with spanish moss banners blowing in the wind is a slender and shapely tree. Winter's end is near, and it also displays the silhouettes of numerous flowers soon to turn into small cypress balls and soft, furrie like needles. The cypress tree shares many similarities to it's far-north evergreen relatives and is of the same family of the California redwoods. Photo © copyright by Frank LeBlanc.
